Berlin is large and unevenly serviced, and a courtyard loft in Neukölln plays by different rules than an industrial hall in Schöneweide. These four points about the space itself are best clarified before you book; permits for public space are covered separately further down.
Check the usable floor area, the ceiling height under beams and pipes, and the real character of the room. Period stucco, loft brick and a raw hall read completely differently on camera, so study the listing's images, floor plans and individual areas closely rather than relying on a single hero image, and ask for a current recce shot if you need one.
Clarify the available power load and number of circuits, any built-in flash or continuous lighting, and whether the room can be blacked out. North-facing daylight studios are sought-after in Berlin but cannot be controlled everywhere, and HMIs and larger setups need more than a domestic socket.
