Questions about renting out your location
How much can I earn with my location?
It depends on type, size, location and use. Smaller photo shoots often start at €400–800 per day. For an apartment or house, film and commercial shoots usually run at around €1,000–1,500 per shooting day, commercial spaces such as offices, cafés or halls often at €1,500–2,500. Price drivers are city, room type, crew size, shoot duration, exclusivity, and prep and wrap time. This is guidance, not a guarantee: you set your day rate yourself, and the quick check above shows how comparable places are listed.
How do inquiries and bookings work?
Productions submit a concrete inquiry via SetScout with date and usage details. We forward the inquiry to you so you can determine availability. When the date works for you, a location contract is electronically confirmed. This is verified by us, as is the production company's insurance coverage.
Who can see my location?
All production companies using SetScout can see your listing. You decide which rooms and photos are public. The exact address stays hidden until a request turns into a concrete viewing or booking. You can take your listing offline at any time.
What happens if something gets damaged?
Before every booking, SetScout's Supercheck verifies the location contract and the production's insurance. If damage occurs, the production's liability insurance and the location contract apply. Set house rules, off-limits areas and the handover condition in your listing, and document the condition before the shoot so it stays traceable.
What fees apply to me?
SetScout only earns when you earn: a 15% commission applies once the booking is paid and you receive your payout. Registration, listing and inquiries are free.
Do I have to accept every request?
No. You can clarify, adjust or decline any request. Nothing is binding until you accept.
What about the neighbors?
Agree on crew size, noise, parking, delivery access and shooting hours before you accept, especially in residential buildings. Reputable productions inform neighbors in good time and stay within the agreed limits.
Do I have to pay tax on the income?
Location fees can be taxable. Whether you treat them as private or business income and whether VAT applies depends on your situation. SetScout provides the payment receipts; for larger volumes, it is worth consulting a tax advisor.
