This page explains where the location information, images, and search data on SetScout come from.
Some location metadata displayed by SetScout comes from OpenStreetMap. This data is provided by © OpenStreetMap contributors and is available under the Open Database License (ODbL).
For search, SetScout uses selected OpenStreetMap features that reference files or categories on Wikimedia Commons. Information taken from OpenStreetMap is kept as OpenStreetMap source data and remains attributed to the ODbL.
This selection can be reproduced from publicly available OpenStreetMap data by filtering for the relevant image references. Selection, storage, and technical formatting do not add new geographic observations to the OpenStreetMap source data.
SetScout retrieves images referenced by OpenStreetMap separately from Wikimedia Commons. The images are not part of the OpenStreetMap data and remain subject to the license shown for each image on Wikimedia Commons.
SetScout uses images whose licenses can be classified as CC0, CC BY, CC BY-SA, or Public Domain. Available title, creator, source, and license details are retained for attribution in the service.
SetScout generates independent descriptions, classifications, and search information from image content. This information is not taken from OpenStreetMap.
The ODbL applies to the OpenStreetMap component, not the complete SetScout search index. Referring to the same location does not change this separation. Information generated independently by SetScout is not made available under the ODbL.
Reports about missing or incorrect image attribution, inaccurate location information, or another data concern can be sent to [email protected].
